What is a GSM Gateway or Fixed Cellular Terminal?
A GSM Gateway / FCTerminal is a device which contains a number of SIM cards – the number of SIMs depends on the number of concurrent calls made from landlines to mobiles). The GSM Gateway can be positioned between your PSTN trunk lines and your telephone system, or alongside your telephone system via a trunk feed. Landline-to- mobile calls are substituted for mobile-to-mobile calls once installed.

Who does it suit?
A GSM Gateway would suit nearly every company these days due to the ever increasing volume of calls to mobiles. However, it would particularly suit those that make a high volume of calls to mobile users such as recruitment companies, NHS Trusts and professional service Organisations .

What is the benefit?
The benefit of a GSM gateway is simple - it saves you money! The average cost of a UK call from a fixed line to a mobile is 10.5p per minute (depending on carrier and tariff). However, by using a GSM gateway this cost can be reduced by up to 60% with no loss of call quality.

Is it Legal?
OFCOM state... ‘... it is entirely legal under UK law for end-users(whether businesses or ordinary consumers) to buy, install and use GSM gateways for their own use.’

What does Koris need to know from me?
It is very simple and straightforward. All we need to know from our customers is the following:

  1. What is your connectivity to the outside world (ie ISDN30, ISDN2, Analogue, SIP)
  2. What is the volume of current landline to mobile calls? (we can assist you here)
  3. What is your existing call expenditure? (again, we can assist you here)

The answers to the above will enable Koris to select the correct tariff / quantity of SIMs and complete a return on investment analysis. In most examples there are no upfront costs for our customers to incur.
